The Gujarat government has launched the Namo Laxmi Scholarship Scheme to provide the benefit of Namo Laxmi Scholarship to girls studying in classes 9 to 12 in government, aided and private secondary and higher secondary schools in the state with the aim of reducing the dropout rate of girls in government, aided and private secondary and higher secondary schools and completing their studies from class 9 to 12. The government has made a financial provision of Rs 1250.00 crore for the Namo Laxmi Scholarship Scheme.

Namo Lakshmi Scheme Gujarat

The Gujarat government has launched the Namo Laxmi Yojana to support girl students studying in secondary and higher secondary schools in the state to complete their studies from grades 9 to 12. Under the Namo Laxmi Yojana, each girl student will receive a total assistance of ₹50,000 upon completing grades 9 to 12 in government, aided, and private schools. ₹10,000 per year for grades 9-10 (₹500 per month based on attendance × 10, and the remaining 50% will be deposited into the bank account via DBT after passing the Class 10 board exam).

Under the Namo Laxmi Yojana, ₹15,000 per year for grades 11-12 (₹750 per month based on attendance × 10, and the remaining 50% will be deposited into the bank account via DBT after passing the Class 12 board exam). This scheme will lead to higher enrolment of girls in classes 9 to 12 and will reduce the dropout rate of girls in these classes, will help in their education and nutrition, thereby empowering them.

An estimated 10 lakh girls studying in classes 9 to 12 in government, aided and private schools of the state will get the benefit of this scheme. The eligibility of the benefits of this scheme will be decided on the basis of the prescribed family income limit. Under this scheme, an estimated expenditure of Rs. 1,250 crores has been estimated in the year 2024-25.

Namo Laxmi Yojana Benefits

• Under the scheme, each eligible girl child will receive a total financial assistance of ₹50,000 upon completing classes 9th to 12th in government, aided, and private schools.

• ₹10,000 annually (₹500 per month based on attendance × 10), and the remaining 50% will be deposited through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) after passing the Class 10 board examination.
• ₹15,000 annually (₹750 per month based on attendance × 10), and the remaining 50% will be deposited through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) after passing the Class 12 board examination.
• The financial assistance provided under the scheme will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiary girl students through DBT.
