About 55 percent of the citizens of the state of Karnataka are in the working age group, out of which more than 1.18 crore citizens in the age group of 20-29 years are present in the state. Keeping this in mind, a campaign called One District One Skill is being launched by the state government in the state of Karnataka. Under this mission launched by the state government, all the citizens of the state are being provided with the right skills as well as jobs, so that the youth can be connected to the industry.

Apart from this, a digital network called Karnataka Skill Connect Portal (KSCP) is now being broadcast by the state government as a medium to connect educational institutions, various skill organizations, potential workers and potential employers. Under this, all the citizens of the state will be able to use online courses to identify their skill gaps and sign up for training programs, after which the vacancies will be listed by them along with the training, so that they can also apply to get a job.

Objective of Karnataka Skill Connect Portal

The main objective of launching the Skill Connect Portal (KSCP) by the Government of Karnataka is to provide training and employment opportunities to all interested citizens. Along with this, the state of Karnataka is to transform from an IT capital to a skill capital state. The state government focuses on creating sector-specific employment on the Skill Connect portal through partnerships with various organizations, after which all the citizens of the state are provided training to get employment through it and along with this, employment opportunities are also provided to those citizens.

Benefits and Features of Karnataka Skill Connect Portal

• Five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed when the Karnataka Skill Connect Portal was being launched.
• The development of industries can also be assisted through this portal.
• Unlike job seekers in virtual job fairs, through the Karnataka Skill Connect Portal (KSCP), more than 20,000 candidates will be connected to companies through large-scale job fairs under the "Serving Industries (Jobs for All)" program. Efforts are made to connect with employers.
• The MoUs signed at the launch of the portal are as follows: Agreement between Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Infosys, Karnataka Skill Development Corporation (KSDC) and National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), Government Tool Room and Training Centre (GTTC) and Toyota Kirloskar, ITI etc.
• The students, who are receiving the necessary and in-demand skill training, are preparing their future for the progress of the state of Karnataka.
• Under this portal, skill training will be provided by the Department of Higher Education, Department of Health and Family Welfare, and Department of Primary and Secondary Education under SIDC of Department of Agriculture.
• Under the Skill Connect portal, more emphasis will be laid on building future capabilities with organizations including robots, data analytics and Internet of Things, Learning Management System (LMS) and Artificial Intelligence.
• Under this portal, about 150 ITIs have been converted into technology centers and vice versa, a total of 150 ITI colleges are being developed in the state at a cost of about Rs 4500 crore by the Government of Karnataka. 23 futuristic skill development courses have been conducted in areas like robotics, IoT and Artificial Intelligence.
